The Greenwood Concert Band has been playing summer concerts for thousands of people throughout the parks of Seattle in a series of free concerts for 20 years. The band is comprised of 50 musicians from all walks of life in the greater Seattle area. Each concert is unique and features some of the finest soloists in America.
Since its founding in 1997 by Music Director William Blayney, it has continued this tradition that for over 100 years was so much a part of the musical life of every town and community in a growing America.
This summer the Greenwood Concert Band will be performing in Saturdays throughout July. The band plays concerts full of Americana, with everything from ragtime, marches, novelty numbers, Broadway tunes, patriotic music, and standard overtures. Each season the band also performs compositions of American composer and former Seattle Symphony conductor Henry Hadley. This year we will be featuring his "Youth Triumphant" overture from 1931.
